Man of the Hour

The commanding voice, his stance on common issues, and his passionate support for the plight of SUCs all over the country —all these have made, Dr. Ricardo E. Rotoras,  the President of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) and the present President of the newly-established University of Science and Technology in the Philippines , appear as ‘man of the hour’ as he unravels the journey that PASUC has  traversed.

In his substantial one-hour talk, he mentioned on the dwindling government subsidy to SUCs, the lack of funding for NBC 461, the access to quality education amidst difficult times, the inequity in budget allocations, the nee for long-term vision for SUCs, the lack of plantilla items for teaching and non-teaching personnel among SUCs, and many other concerns that continuously haunt the SUCs today. On top of all these, everyone’s attendtion were hooked into listening to the ‘man of the hour’ as every bit of information he shared were full of substance and wisdom.

Gently Calls SUC Presidents to Fully Support AACCUP

Steadfast in his commitment for quality assurance among SUCs, Dr. Rotoras jokingly reminds all SUC Presidents to support AACCUP, especially if there are invitations for survey visits, to send the ‘best’ accreditors, as a sign of full support to AACCUP.

Paves Direction to Address NBC 461 Predicaments

Addressing the issues on NBC 461, Dr. Rotoras clarifies some changes on the criteria for NBC 461 evaluation, including the clarification on the QCE framework for a faculty to be promoted across academic ranks. By saying that funds are available at the DBM through the MPBFfunds, he further gives a little hope on those SUCs who were not able to beat the deadline for the implementation of the NBC 461-Cycle 7.

To sum it all, PASUC has indeed overarched the directions of SUCs all over the country.
