CIQG Invites AACCUP for Membership
Upon the invitation of the Council for Higher Education (CHEA) International Quality Group (CIQG), the AACCUP Board of Trustees accepted the invitation and approved AACCUP in its application for membership under BOT Resolution No. 030, s.2016 during its meeting held last March 14, 2016. As the events take place at the latter part of the year, the Executive Director set the AACCUP formal application for membership to be submitted early January 2017. AACCUP Executive Director Joins the APQN Board
During the Asia-Pacific Quality Assurance Network (APQN) Conference held at Natadola, Fiji Islands on May 25-27, 2016, the AACCUP Executive Director, Dr. Manuel T. Corpus was elected as a member of the Board of Trustees of the APQN. The APQN Board of Trustees are the following: Prof. Dr. Jianxin Zhang (President), Prof. Angela Hou Yung-chi (Vice-President), Prof. Li Yaogang (Secretary/Treasurer), then the three Board members: Dr. Manuel T. Corpus, Ms. Malini Nair-Prasad, and Prof. Dr. Galina Motova; and finally Dr. Jagannath Patil (Past President as Ex-officio member).

Participants Flock at Day 1 of the 30th AACCUP Annual National Conference
As early as 6.30 in the morning, some participants were already flocking in at the registration area of Century Park Hotel during Day 1 of the 30th Annual National Conference. An estimated total of more than 400 participants are expected to arrive during this year’s annual national conference, which includes the presence of the University Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Quality Assurance Officers, and other accreditation enthusiasts.

After listening to the well-delivered and substantial report of the outgoing AACCUP President-Dr. Luis M. Sorolla, Jr., in the second day of the 30th AACCUP Annual National Conference (AANC), Dr. Dulce F. Atian remarked that the Board of Trustees (BOTs) 2015-2017 has done a commendable job and that the President’s Report is indeed laudable. On motion by a participant, duly seconded by Dr. Samson L. Keeps audience engaged in her talk The chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Dr. Patricia B. Licuanan, graced the second day of the 30th Annual National Conference. During her talk, she alluded herself to a ‘mother’ of all higher education institutions (HEIs) in the country. Being so, she said that ‘a mother (referring to herself) is always looking after the welfare of her children (the HEIs); thus, through her talk, she tries to gear the focus of all HEIs such that quality assurance and internationalization are both given equal importance in all higher education institutions.
